Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
1. Introduction
Rivr Technology Group Inc.("Rivr," "we," "our," or "us") is a company incorporated in Canada and based in Vancouver, British Columbia. We provide an AI-powered virtual assistant service for home services businesses, delivered primarily over text messaging (SMS and RCS), voice, email, and web interfaces ("the Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Transparency about the technology: the Service is automated software powered by artificial intelligence, including third-party large language models (LLMs) and related machine-learning and speech technologies. It generates messages, handles calls, drafts emails, produces estimates, and manages scheduling programmatically — not through a live human — unless we tell you otherwise. Understanding this is important context for how your information is processed.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, and company name when you register.
- Business data: leads, jobs, appointments, customer records, pricing information, and other records you create or manage through the Service.
- Conversation data: all SMS/RCS messages and web-based communications exchanged between you and the Service, including messages sent to or from third parties on your behalf.
- Google account data (optional): if you choose to connect a Google account, limited Gmail and Google Calendar data as described in Section 10 below.
- Usage data: information about how you interact with the Service, including timestamps, feature usage, interaction patterns, and device information.
- Technical data: IP addresses, browser type, operating system, and other technical information collected automatically when you access the web interface.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To process and respond to your messages through AI-powered conversation.
- To store and manage your business data as directed by you through the Service.
- To send you service-related notifications and communications via SMS or email.
- Quality assurance and service improvement: Rivr personnel may access your data, including conversation logs and business data, for the purposes of quality control, debugging, service monitoring, and improving the accuracy and performance of the Service. This access is limited to authorized personnel and is conducted solely to maintain and improve the Service.
- To enforce our Terms of Service and protect the security and integrity of the Service.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or business data to any third party, and we will never do so.
We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Third-party service providers: We use trusted third-party service providers to operate certain aspects of the Service, such as messaging delivery, AI processing, and data storage. These providers are contractually obligated to use your data solely to provide services to us and are prohibited from using it for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity, which will be bound by this Privacy Policy.
We do not share text messaging consent information or opt-in data with any third party for their marketing or promotional purposes.
5. Data Storage & Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), encrypted storage at rest, access controls, and audit logging. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your data may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to these jurisdictions, which may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as reasonably needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Following account termination, we may retain certain data for a reasonable period as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as audit and compliance). You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us, subject to any legal retention requirements.
7. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information and poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected users as required by applicable privacy legislation, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and any applicable provincial privacy laws. We will also notify relevant regulatory authorities as required by law.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Opt out of SMS/RCS communications at any time by replying STOP to any message.
- Disconnect any connected Google account at any time, immediately revoking Rivr's access to Gmail and Calendar data (see Section 10).
- Withdraw consent to data processing where consent is the legal basis (which may result in inability to use the Service).
For California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.
For Canadian residents (PIPEDA): You have the right to access your personal information held by us, challenge its accuracy, and withdraw consent to its collection, use, or disclosure, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email provided below. We will respond to your request within the timeframes required by applicable law.
9. SMS, RCS & Messaging
Rivr communicates with you primarily through text messaging — Rich Communication Services (RCS) where supported, with automatic fallback to standard SMS. This section explains how consent works for that channel and applies equally to both.
Opt-in
You opt in to receive messages from Rivr by entering your mobile number on our website (meetrivr.vercel.app) and submitting it, or by texting Rivr's number directly. That action is your affirmative, express consent for Rivr to send you automated text messages at that number about setting up and operating your business account — for example, onboarding steps, replies to your questions, appointment and job updates, billing notices, and account alerts. We do not add phone numbers to Rivr on anyone's behalf without that person directly opting in themselves, and we do not share your opt-in status or consent records with any third party for their own marketing purposes.
Opt-out
You can withdraw consent and stop all messages at any time by replying STOPto any message from Rivr. You'll receive a one-time confirmation, and Rivr will send no further messages to that number unless you opt back in by replying START or texting us again. Reply HELP at any time for help, or contact us directly at the email below.
Message frequency varies based on your usage — more during setup, then as-needed once Rivr is running your calls, texts, and jobs. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier and plan. Your consent to receive messages is not a condition of purchasing any other good or service, though Rivr's core functionality depends on messaging and the Service will not work for you if you opt out.
10. Google Account Data & API Services
If you choose to, you can connect a Google account to Rivr to enable optional features like email monitoring and calendar-based scheduling. This is entirely optional and off by default. If you connect a Google account, Rivr requests only the following scopes, and only for the purposes listed:
- Gmail (read & compose): used to detect incoming customer emails (leads, quote requests, job inquiries) so Rivr can flag them and draft or send replies on your behalf, exactly as it would for a text message.
- Google Calendar (events & free/busy): used to check your availability and create, update, or cancel calendar events when you book, reschedule, or dispatch a job through Rivr.
Rivr's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular:
- Google account data is used only to provide and improve the specific Rivr features you've enabled (email monitoring and/or calendar scheduling) — never for advertising, and never sold or shared with data brokers or other third parties.
- Access to Google account data is limited to automated processing needed to operate those features. Human review of Gmail or Calendar content is limited to what's necessary for security, legal compliance, or with your explicit direction (e.g., when you ask us to help debug an issue with your account).
- Google account data is not used to train generalized AI/ML models that are not used to provide your own Rivr features.
- Access tokens are stored encrypted at rest and are used only to call the Google APIs on your behalf.
- You can disconnect your Google account at any time from your Rivr dashboard or by contacting us — this immediately stops Rivr from accessing Gmail or Calendar and revokes our stored tokens. You can also revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions page.
11. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
12. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our web interface may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain session state, remember preferences, and collect usage analytics. By using the web interface, you consent to the use of these technologies. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect the functionality of the Service.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. It is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
14. Contact Us
This Privacy Policy is issued by Rivr Technology Group Inc., Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the data controller responsible for your information. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, your data, or wish to exercise any of your rights, contact us at hello@meetrivr.com.
